Job Type: Full-Time
Work Arrangement: Remote
Department: Technology / Integrations / Business Systems / Digital Transformation
Reports To: Integration Lead / Solutions Architect / Head of Engineering / Applications Manager
Role Overview
We are seeking a technically strong and detail-oriented API Integration Specialist to design, build, and support integrations between internal and external systems. This role is responsible for enabling secure, scalable, and reliable data exchange across business applications, platforms, and services using APIs, webhooks, middleware, and related integration methods.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with REST APIs, OAuth, JSON, system connectivity, and integration logic, along with strong troubleshooting and data mapping skills. This person should be comfortable working across both technical and business teams to understand requirements, define integration behavior, document connectivity, and ensure business systems can communicate effectively.
This is a remote USA-based role, suited for someone who can bridge system architecture, operational workflows, and integration delivery while maintaining security, clarity, and long-term maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
Integration Design & Development
- Design, build, and maintain integrations between internal platforms, external applications, SaaS tools, databases, and third-party services
- Connect systems using APIs, webhooks, middleware, connectors, scheduled syncs, and event-based workflows
- Translate integration requirements into practical technical solutions that support business operations and data flow needs
- Develop reusable and scalable integration patterns for system interoperability
- Support both real-time and batch-based integrations depending on business and technical requirements
API Connectivity & System Interoperability
- Work with internal and external APIs to enable data exchange across CRM, ERP, HRIS, finance tools, support systems, marketing tools, and other business applications
- Configure and manage authentication methods such as OAuth, API keys, tokens, and related access mechanisms
- Ensure integrations support accurate, timely, and secure data movement between systems
- Build and maintain interoperability across platforms with different data structures, workflows, and access methods
- Assist in evaluating integration feasibility, technical dependencies, and system compatibility
Data Mapping & Workflow Logic
- Define and maintain data mapping between source and destination systems, including field-level transformation and validation logic
- Handle payload structures, request and response formats, JSON objects, and business rules involved in system connectivity
- Support workflow automation tied to integration triggers, conditions, updates, and downstream actions
- Identify and resolve data mismatches, transformation errors, duplication issues, and failed sync scenarios
- Ensure data consistency, integrity, and traceability across connected platforms
Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution
- Investigate and resolve integration failures, API errors, authentication issues, payload mismatches, timeout problems, and webhook delivery issues
- Monitor system connectivity and diagnose issues affecting data flow, automation reliability, or cross-platform communication
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring integration incidents and recommend long-term fixes
- Work with vendors, internal developers, and business stakeholders to resolve technical and functional integration issues
- Improve error handling, retry logic, logging, and monitoring to strengthen overall integration reliability
Security, Documentation & Governance
- Secure system connectivity by following best practices for authentication, access control, token usage, and data handling
- Document integration architecture, endpoints, authentication methods, field mappings, workflows, and support procedures
- Maintain technical documentation for implemented integrations, troubleshooting steps, change history, and system dependencies
- Support governance and control practices related to integration changes, testing, and release management
- Help ensure compliance with internal security, operational, and documentation standards
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Support
- Work across engineering, business systems, operations, vendors, and functional stakeholders to gather requirements and support solution delivery
- Explain integration logic and connectivity requirements to both technical and non-technical teams
- Support implementation planning, testing, validation, and user readiness for integration-dependent workflows
- Partner with analysts, architects, and delivery teams to align integrations with broader system and business goals
- Contribute to continuous improvement of integration processes, support models, and technical standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Proven experience in API integration, systems integration, middleware support, or technical application connectivity
